"With the Same Currency"
In order to maintain the levels of internal repression and institutions to induce terror and carry out acts of violence against peaceful human rights defenders, the regime has resorted to desperate measures to try to obtain hard currency. Expressing a complete disregard for the welfare of the Cuban people, the regime has banned the use of national currencies in establishments called "area dollar". Cubans, subject to a ration book that provides access (paid) to minimum rations, have to buy food from other sources.
Salaries are paid in Cuban pesos, while goods and services must be purchased in pesos convertibles ", or foreign currency. This denies the average Cuban's ability to buy food and other goods they desperately needed to support their family.
Say NO to economic discrimination in Cuba!
"With the Same Currency" is a campaign whose focus is to ensure the Cuban government acceptance of the Cuban peso in all establishments in the country and to help restore the pride and the value of national currency into the hands of the people.
To this end, the Latin American Federation of Rural Women (FLAMUR) has developed a nationwide campaign to collect the 10,000 signatures necessary to present a bill before the National Assembly, according to the law in a world where each is promoted. After stronger gender equity and sustainable development, the Cubans were denied in their own country the most basic of all these concepts: the benefit and enjoyment of the fruits of their labor.
A worker is prevented from purchasing Cuban goods and services in their own land because they receive their wages in local currency.
There is no legitimacy to talk about sovereignty when the Cubans are second class citizens in their own country.
